What does research on implicit bias aim to solve?: The big differences created by small disparities

In the simulation, the company’s hierarchy is divided into 8 levels, starting with an equal gender distribution. Each employee’s evaluation score ranges from 1 to 100 for women and from 1 to 101 for men. The evaluation scores are determined randomly, and promotions and demotions are carried out mechanically. As a result, the proportion of women in the top tier of the hierarchy is as follows. Orange represents the proportion of women, and blue represents the proportion of men.

A mere 1% difference in evaluation can accumulate to lead to such results.

Even if each discriminatory action is subtle and goes unnoticed, it is not hard to imagine the outcomes when these actions accumulate across an entire organization or country.

So, how can we overcome such discriminatory behaviors?
